I am interested in machine learning and learner modeling. My current work studies how text-aware learner models generalize to previously unseen questions, especially whether question text provides predictive information beyond item difficulty and learner history.

Text-aware learner modeling
I study prediction for assessment questions that have not appeared in a learner model's training interaction history. I am particularly interested in separating information about item difficulty from richer information carried by question text, using calibrated evaluation and strong simple baselines.
